1.    Executive Chef:

This is the individual who is in charge of all the supervision of the entire staff, creates the food menu, and also oversees the management side of things in a restaurant. They are seen as the figurehead, and other people abide under their command.

2.    Chef de Cuisine:

These people are in charge of meals in smaller restaurants or kitchens. They can also act as the executive chef when it has to do with a restaurant with different locations. It is the work of the chef de cuisine to give daily reports to the executive chefs based on the happenings in the kitchen.

3.    Sous Chefs:

They act as managers inside a restaurant or inside a kitchen. The major thing they are involved with is handling numerous kitchen invoices, inventory, ensuring the kitchens are well kept, and checking the quality of the food before it gets to the customers.

4.    Line Cooks:

These people are in charge of a particular segment or portion of the kitchen. These are your poissoniers (fish cooks), garden mangers (cold food preparation), entremètiers (vegetable soup cooks), rôtisseurs (meat cooks), and many others.

5.    Junior Cooks/Commis:

They work hand-to-hand with the line cooks to assist them in running different errands. They are still receiving training or just graduated out of culinary school to join the line school for more professional training.

6.    Stagiaires:

These are students who are doing internships, and they are given minor tasks to carry inside the kitchen such as peeling potatoes, slicing onions, blending peppers, etc.
