Canada is known to accepting newcomers as citizens as long as their intention remains good and helps in the growth of their economy. They welcome immigrants warmly and help them in best position in career. However, individuals with past criminal records seeking to immigrate to Canada are properly accessed because Canada has strict rules when it comes to granting these set of individuals visa.

Who is a Convicted Felon?

A convicted felon is a person that has a conviction of Felony in the court of law. However, a felony is traditionally described as a crime with high level of seriousness. Some few examples of felony includes, murder, manslaughter, kidnapping, grand larceny, tax evasion, drug trafficking, treason etc.

Can a convicted Felon Immigrate to Canada?

Generally, a convicted felon is usually rendered inadmissible to Canada, but Yes. It all depends if the individual have passed through the requirements and have the necessary documents needed to immigrate to Canada. You see, before you can be granted visa as a convicted felon, you need to be deemed rehabilitated. Quickly access yourself and make sure you’re not a felon with multiple serious crimes. Also, make sure you’ve completed your jail terms and at least 5 years have passed since you were convicted.

After Completed Rehabilitation Application

Once you’ve established rehabilitation, then the next step is to ensure that all documents required is to be sent to the corresponding officials. It’s advised that once your rehabilitation application is received, then you apply for the electronic travel authorization. This stage is also important if you wish to immigrate temporary or permanently to Canada.
