Moving to Switzerland: All You Need to Know

Who are the People Liable for a Swiss Visa?

It is surprising to know that there are some countries which are not part of the European Union, and Switzerland is one of them. This country belongs to another body known as the European Free Trade Association alongside countries such as Norway, Lichtenstein, and Iceland. Therefore anyone from EFTA and the EU wouldn’t need to obtain a visa before moving to Switzerland. The most important thing they have to get is getting a work or residence permit for them to be employed by a Swiss employer. Citizens from a non-EFTA/EU will need to get themselves visa.

Types of Swiss Visa

There are three different types of Swiss visas, and here they are:

  • Short-term Swiss Visas
  • Non-Immigrant Visas
  • Immigrant Visas

1.    Short-term Swiss Visas:

These types of visas allow foreigners to stay for a maximum of 90 days based on different purposes such as tourism, business, education, investment, and others. This visa is important for anyone to have if they only want to stay for a short period.

2.    Non-Immigrant Visas:

These are longer types of visas that will require one to stay for more than 90 days. Different situations will permit one to apply for this kind of visa such as studying or working in Switzerland. The applicant or candidate will leave the country after he or she is done with her program.

3.    Immigrant Visas:

These kinds of visas are long term visas for anyone who wants to stay for a longer period in Switzerland. This visa is capable of granting one the privilege to stay permanently in Switzerland without any hindrances or harassment from immigration officers.

Reasons for Moving to Switzerland

People don’t travel to Switzerland without any reason. An individual who is moving to Switzerland must have a purpose of going there. These reasons are different, and here they are:

1.    Education:

Switzerland has one of the best educational systems in the entire world. This has made many foreigners from different parts of the globe in moving to Switzerland. The higher and tertiary institutions can boast of good facilities which can facilitate better learning amongst individuals.

In Switzerland, they speak four different countries, and these languages have made them opened to various cultural diversities. Some of the residents in Switzerland are temporary foreign workers from other countries. This is the reason more people keeping moving to Switzerland.
